This is how April Fool’s Day started
Although there is no solid evidence that why April Fool’s Day is celebrated on April 1, but many stories are prevalent about it. According to one of which, April Fool’s Day started in 1381. It is said that at that time King Richard won and Queen Anne of Bohemia announced that they were going to get engaged on March 32, 1381. Hearing the news of the engagement, the public was happy, but on March 31, 1381, people understood that March 32 does not come at all. After this people understood that they have been fooled. It is said that since then March 32, i.e. April 1, was celebrated as Fool’s Day. According to some stories, April Fool’s Day had already started in 1392.
That’s why ‘April Fool’s Day’ is celebrated
According to some stories, New Year was first celebrated on 1st April in European countries. But, when Pope Gregory 13 ordered to adopt a new calendar, the new year started being celebrated from January 1. Some people were still celebrating the new year on 1st April itself. Then such people were made fun of considering them as fools. This is how April Fool’s Day started. However, by the 19th century, April Fool’s Day had become quite popular.

There are different ways of celebrating April Fool’s Day on 1st April all over the world. If we talk about Australia, New Zealand, England and African countries, then April Fool’s Day is celebrated there only till 12 o’clock. At the same time, April Fool’s Day is celebrated throughout the day on April 1 in Canada, America, Russia and other European countries. According to some reports, this day was started in India by the British in the 19th century. In today’s time, even in India, people make fun and jokes on this day.
